DAN JONES
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Dan started life as a chorister in the York Minster Choir, touring the US, appearing on radio 2 and singing on many albums before the age of 12. After studying at Leeds College of Music Dan began a career as a professional musician. Following a move into the world of business Dan started life in the classroom in the early ‘00’s. In 2008 Dan was awarded Music Teacher of the Year, picking up his award from Ed Balls MP on stage at the Albert Hall. In 2010 Dan left the classroom to form Mix Music Education. He now manages the creative direction of the company and all customer facing employees. Dan is a published author, musician, teacher of many but above all a father of two beautiful girls. Dan is also a committee member of the British Dyslexia Association. dan@mixmusiceducation.co.uk
KAY JONES
FINANCE DIRECTOR
Following her education in South Yorkshire, Kay began a 17 year career in the financial sector. She left her financial career in 2005 to become a mum. In 2010 she formed Mix Music Education with Dan Jones. Kay manages all back office teams and deals with all manufacturer and supplier relations. She is also the credit controller for the company. David ‘Dai’ Powell
Mix Associate South West
Dai has 24 years of teaching experience across all key stages. He first engaged with Mix Music as a customer, whilst working for Gwent Music Support Service. In 2013, after many years working with JamPodTM, JamClassHD and ClassTaiko, Dai became our area associate for the South West of the U.K. Dai is also Managing Director of Upbeat Music & Arts. dai@mixmusiceducation.co.uk
JIM & MARGARET MALPAS
NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS
Margaret is the Joint Chair of the British Dyslexia Association and has also co directed its training initiatives over the last 6 years. She originally trained as a Personnel Manager and with her husband Jim, achieved national recognition with their business, Malpas Flexible Learning Ltd. which became was the largest provider of professional education for HR Managers and Trainers in the UK and internationally. Margaret qualified as a specialist teacher of dyslexia in 2010 and recently also discovered that she is dyscalculic.
